AN OTLEY publisher has released a new anthology of poems inspired by Olympic sport.

Half Moon Books had originally hoped that The View from Olympia would come out to coincide with this year’s Summer Olympics but those plans were scuppered thanks to the coronavirus pandemic.

The book includes contributions from some of the UK’s finest contemporary poets along with an introduction by Bramhope-based, double Olympic gold medal-winning triathlete Alistair Brownlee.

It has been edited by local writers Joe Williams and Peter R White. Mr Williams said: “I hope it’ll bring some enjoyment to those who have been missing sport as well as people who love poetry.”

The book will be launched at an online event, via Zoom, on Friday, July 24.

The View from Olympia is currently on sale for a special introductory price of £9, plus postage, from www.halfmoonbooks.co.uk.
