A RUNNING event which was forced to take place virtually managed to raise more than £5,000 for an Oswestry charity.
The Welshpool 10k, organised by Alan Lewis of Adrenaline Sporting Events, was set to take place in March, but the Covid-19 outbreak and lockdown meant the event was cancelled.
Alan sent out a medal and a goodie bag to the 800 entrants, and was left with 100 medals, encouraging him to come up with a new idea.
He donated 100 medals and goodie bags to Hope House Children’s Hospice so they could hold their own virtual Powis 10k.
The event, organised by the hospice, was sold out within the first four days.
With the first event being such a success, the hospice has been inspired to organise another virtual 10k of its own.
Participants will win an all new medal upon completion and anyone who raises more than £100 in sponsorship will receive a Hope House vest with details available www.hopehouse.org.uk/Event/10k-virtual-run.
