A RETIRED police officer from Arthington is preparing to celebrate Yorkshire Day in style - by jumping from an aeroplane.
Hugh Robinson had originally been due to take part in a tandem skydive at Bridlington for Parkinson’s UK on June 20. The event had to be rearranged, however, due to the COVID-19 outbreak and will now take place on Saturday, August 1.
Mr Robinson, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease last year, said: “Now, more than ever, charities need our support.” Writing on the online donation page he has set up at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/hugh-robinson64, the 56 year old added: “I have had fantastic care from Leeds NHS and Parkinson’s UK, who have provided the relevant information and support.
“The money raised from the skydive will go to Parkinson’s UK and will be used in research that will hopefully help us understand this incurable (at the moment) disease.”
