TWO past presidents of Aireborough Rotary have helped raise almost £2,000 by walking the equivalent of more than two marathons.
Brian Whitham and Graham Davies completed the 26th and final stretch of at least 2.6 miles this week.
They staged their Marathon Challenge in aid of MHA Methodist Homes, and together with Local Co-ordinator Sue Oliver, they had raised £1489 against their £500 target. This was added to by a £500 cheque from the Rotary club.
Meanwhile the results of the club’s Life under Lockdown photographic competition have been announced. In a closely run contest with 48 submissions winners were Di and Barrie Oldam’s ‘Scrubs par excellence’ followed closely by Mavis and Patrick Glenn’s ‘Teddies thriving under lockdown’ and Alyson Wort’s ‘Stay put, stay warm’. This added £235 to the funds allocated to local charities affected by the pandemic - taking the total to more than £3300.
