HAVING served his first year as a district councillor for Ilkley, Cllr Kyle Green has reflected on how he has seen first-hand the incredible community spirit present in Ilkley.

Cllr Green, working with a range of agencies as the youth and school liaison representative on the Ilkley Corona Response Group, has seen the incredible response, including the work of the scrubs team, who have helped provide PPE for frontline workers, the fantastic achievement of the residents of St John’s Road, who managed to raise over £9,000 with their marathon, and councillors, residents and businesses across Ilkley and Ben Rhydding working with Ilkley Youth and Community Association to provide school equipment to families.

Cllr Green (Con, Ilkley) said: “It has been a privilege to represent the people of Ilkley over the last year and I look forward to helping Ilkley bounce back from coronavirus and continue to be a thriving town and a wonderful place to live. It has been incredible to see first-hand the fantastic spirit this town has in general but particularly at present during this incredibly challenging time. This has been exemplified by residents who have followed the government advice and stayed at home, and to businesses who have adapted and reacted to the challenges they have faced. As well as this, the response by community groups such as Ilkley Food Bank, who have worked incredibly hard to respond to the economic challenge this crisis has created, and the emotional support such as befriending offered by Ilkley and District Good Neighbours has been fantastic. I also want to pay tribute to all of our key workers, whether they are doctors, nurses, supermarket staff, waste collection staff, and everyone else keeping us going.”
