AIREDALE hospital has recorded a further death of a patient who tested positive for coronavirus.

It brings the total who have died in its care with the virus to 41.

A statement from NHS England today read: "A further 740 people, who tested positive for the coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 12,396.

Patients were aged between 28 and 103 years old and 40 of the 740 patients (aged between 45 and 93 years old) had no known underlying health condition.

Their families have been informed.

Nationally, 870 deaths have been recorded in the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to 13,738.
