A WASHBURN Valley clergyman is fasting to raise funds for a farming charity.
The Rector of the Benefice of Washburn and Mid-Wharfe, Reverend Stephen McCaulay, is sticking to a limit of just 800 calories a day during Lent.
The money he raises in sponsorship will go to the Farming Community Network. Giving an update in the latest edition of the Washburn Valley & Mid-Wharfe Churches parish magazine, he said: “I am managing to stick to my 800 calories each day. So far - as of March 10 - I have lost 13 pounds since Ash Wednesday.
“I have also planned, in detail, what I will be eating on Easter Day!”
