ILKLEY district councillor Kyle Green (Con) has spoken of his delight after receiving confirmation that the campaign to save the vital P99 school bus has been successful.

Cllr Green said he has received word from West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) that the service will continue as it is for the rest of the academic year.

While the service is likely to be tied into other journeys from the start of the next academic year so it can continue to be financially viable, the fact that the bus seems to be secure for the foreseeable future is a fantastic development for those who rely on the service, he said.

Speaking about the decision Councillor Green said: “I am delighted this decision has been taken.

“As we face a climate emergency, it is vital to continue to support environmentally friendly ways to get children to school. As well this, parking around schools in Ilkley has been made worse due to the ill thought through parking changes by Bradford Council, so the P99 bus service plays an even more important role in transporting children to schools in Ilkley and Addingham”.
