SCOUTS in Ilkley are collecting and recycling crisp packets, due to their concern about the environment.

Ilkley Christchurch Scout Troop joined together with Dan’s Den and Christchurch to install a community crisp packet collection point in Dan’s Den soft play facility last autumn. So far 968 crisp packets have been collected for recycling but they aim to collect all of the town’s waste crisp packets in future. The packets are sent for recycling by TerraCycle in a scheme offered by Walkers Crisps. The packets get sorted, cleaned and recycled. The Scouts are asking everyone to recycle their crisp packets. Accepted waste includes any brand of empty crisp packets, including crisp multipack outer packaging. Crisp packets should be empty and flat. Drop off is in the labelled bin at Dan’s Den, Riddings Hall, Riddings Road, during Dan’s Den opening hours, which can be found on their website: www.dansdenilkley.co.uk. The Scouts are hoping to reach at least 2,000 packets by Easter.
