SOUTH Craven theatre company Falling Stars are taking their latest show to Yorkshire villages including Haworth and Glusburn.

The Glusburn-based group premiered their production of Matt Hartley's play Here I Belong with a short tour last autumn in the Yorkshire Dales countryside, where it is set.

The presentation, praised as a thought-provoking and powerful tour de force, is being revived for nine new performances during the spring.

Falling Stars director Rebecca Durham said: "We had fantastic audience feedback and the play very much related to people living in villages in the Dales/Craven area.

“We decided to do a new tour in the spring, with many village halls still to perform at.”

Here I Belong is described as a moving, funny and charming journey through decades of history seen through the eyes of one resident.

It's Elsie's 90th birthday, and the audience join her at the village hall to celebrate 60 years in the village.

The play's publicity blurb states: "Elsie has seen elections, weddings, wars, people coming, people going. The village is where her daughter grew up, it's where her husband died and it's where she's going to stay.

"Travel through time from 1953 to the present day in this play about village life and the right to grow old in your own home."

Here I Belong was first produced as a UK tour by Pentabus Theatre Company in 2016, performed by two women, but it has roles for up to eight female performers.

The tour of Here I Belong will begin at Haworth Village Hall on March 7 at 7.30pm, and will be at Glusburn Institute Community and Arts Centre on March 21 at 7.30pm.

The other performances: Appletreewick Village Hall (March 14), Kelfield Institute (March 29), Gargrave Village Hall (April 17), Kirkby Malham Village Hall (April 18), Hampsthwaite Royal Hall (April 25), Ingleborough Community Centre (May 3), and Guiseley Theatre on (May 15).
