CONSERVATIVE MPs from West Yorkshire met to discuss the county’s transport needs.

The group, which included Pudsey, Horsforth and Aireborough MP Stuart Andrew , Shipley MP Philip Davis, and Keighley and Ilkley MP Robbie Moore, looked at working together to bring about solutions.

Mr Andrew said the West Yorkshire Transport Group had a “fantastic” first meeting.

“I personally feel that we need to make the case for a new metro or light tram rail system between Leeds and Bradford to allow for some essential alleviation of the excessive congestion and pollution issues we face as a city and I am also firmly in favour of the Northern Powerhouse Rail between Leeds and Manchester,” he said.

Mr Andrew is encouraging modernisation of the Leeds Northern Outer Ring Road and investment in junctions such as Horsforth Roundabout.
