NO action is to be taken to reduce speeds on a Bramhope road following a new survey.

Councillor Barry Anderson recently raised the issue of traffic speed on Church Hill, on behalf of a villager, with Leeds City Council.

The road has had a reduced, 20mph limit since 2017 but the speed that some motorists continue to travel along it has remained a cause for concern.

The city council carried out a new speed survey on Church Hill - the previous one was conducted in 2015 - at the end of last year and have just written to Cllr Anderson with the results.

The message said: “As can be seen, the mean speed on Church Hill has fallen following the introduction of the 20mph speed limit, from 22.8mph to 21.5mph. Whilst the mean speed remains above the speed limit, the result does not require us to consider any further measures under strategic stipulations agreed with the police.

“I will forward a copy of these results to the local Inspector and Police Constable for their due attention should they wish to undertake any formal, or informal speed enforcement.

“At this time we do not propose to undertake further engineering intervention.”
