THE POLICE are urging people to remove valuables from their cars.
The advice follows a number of thefts from vehicles across the Leeds North West area which includes Otley, Yeadon, Horsforth, Guiseley, Rawdon, Pool-in-Wharfedale and Bramhope.
The area’s Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) has issued the following tips:
*If you have a garage use it to park your car in
*Ensure your vehicle is locked by checking the handle before leaving it, and remove all valuables.
*At home, don’t leave your car keys on show or near a letterbox - and install CCTV or good outside lighting to deter intruders. The NPT is also advising people to remove empty bags or boxes from cars - because criminals may assume they contain property - and to not drop off bags at their cars midway through shopping trips.
