OTLEY Parish Church is about to be transformed into a sparkling vision of festive wonder.

The church is once again hosting the Otley Christmas Tree Festival which this year launches at noon on Wednesday, December 11.

Forty three trees, all decorated by local community groups and charities, will then be on show from 10am to 6pm daily until the evening of Saturday, December 14.

Otley Bellman Terry Ford and members of Otley Brass Band will help the event get off to a rousing start on Wednesday, and the festival will also feature live seasonal music from school carol singers, bands and choirs.

Free to enter - but with donations to the participating charities welcomed - the event is organised by Helen and Tim Wilkinson on behalf of Otley Chamber of Trade.

Intended as ‘an antidote to the usual commercialism of Christmas’, the festival attracted more than 3,000 visitors last year.

As well as the many free, daytime musical performances there will be a 7pm, admission-by-ticket concert on Friday, December 13 when the Chippendale Singers will be joined by the Westgate Primary School Choir.
