A 63-YEAR-OLD man has died after a being hit by a car in Barnoldswick.
Police were called to the incident on Skipton Road, near the junction of Ben Lane at around 7pm on Sunday, to reports of a serious collision between a white Volkswagen Golf and a pedestrian.
The man was taken to Royal Preston Hospital by air ambulance, but died a short time later.
The driver of the Volkswagen, a 31-year-old man from Barnoldswick, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He is currently in custody.
The road was closed for around five hours while collision investigators attended.
Sgt Andy Ainsworth, of Lancashire Police, said: “An investigation is now under way following a fatal collision in Barnoldswick.
“A man has died and our thoughts are very much with his family and friends at this difficult time. A Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to support them.
“We are now working hard to establish what happened and are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet been spoken to by police to come forward.”
