SCHOOLS across Otley are being sent copies of a book that celebrates diversity.
Otley Welcomes is taking the action to help spread the message that the local community is an inclusive one.
The group’s new sponsor-a-book scheme aims to buy and distribute a range of books with positive messages to local schools and public spaces including GP and dentist waiting rooms.
The first publication to be included is All Are Welcome by Alexandra Penfold - a New York Times bestseller which follows a group of children through a day in a school where everyone is warmly welcomed and the children learn from each other’s traditions.
Otley All Saints C of E Primary School, where the book has been read during story time, was one of the first to receive a copy. Teacher Vicki Binks said: “We all agreed we would like to have a school like the one in All Are Welcome.”
