TRAVELLERS will be spoilt for choice when it comes to planning their holidays this autumn with more destinations and extra flights to choose from at Leeds Bradford Airport.

Jet2 is adding over 11,000 additional seats to the Canary Islands for Winter 19/20, with additional flights and larger aircraft supporting the expansion.

The airline says its Winter Sun programme from the airport sees more seats, choice and flexibility on offer in response to the continued demand from local holidaymakers.

In addition, the company now has two weekly services to Antalya throughout the winter season and has put thousands of seats on sale to sun destinations such as Malaga (Costa Del Sol), Alicante (Costa Blanca), Portugal (Faro and Madeira), Cyprus (Paphos) and Majorca (Palma).

And with Boeing reportedly hoping to get its grounded 737 Max planes flying again by the end of the year, Ryanair might increase its services from the airport which were cut after it had to stall expansion plans using the new jet.

But a spokesman for LBA said that rumours Pakistan International Airlines would be returning to the airport were wrong.

Some of the extra services are:

• There will be three extra flights a week between LBA and Dublin from last Monday with Aer Lingus to make 16 a week. The service also offers connecting opportunities to a range of North American destinations.

• Recently added are four extra flights a week to Southampton Airport with Eastern Airways.

• Las Vegas and Austin are available from summer next year, when connecting through Amsterdam using KLM’s three flights a day.

• Jet2 will be offering even more seats this winter to the Canary Islands, Cyprus and Turkey with up to two weekly services to Antalya throughout the winter season, up to eight weekly services to Tenerife (including double daily on Fridays), up to five weekly services to Lanzarote, up to three weekly services to Gran Canaria, and up to two weekly services to Fuerteventura.

• British Airways has recently added Islamabad back to its network and connections are available through London Heathrow.

• Flights to Cornwall Airport Newquay are back in the schedule with two flights per week from this winter.

• In winter, Jet2 will be increasing their number of flights to Iceland and the popular New York flights will also be available.

• The Ryanair summer 2020 schedule is now on sale with destinations including the familiar like Alicante, Faro and Pisa and the more unusual in Latvia and Lithuania.

John Cunliffe, Aviation and Commercial Director at LBA, said: “We’re delighted that our airline partners are increasing their number of flights to a range of destinations around Europe.

“We expect that there will be strong demand for these new flights and we are excited to welcome more holidaymakers to the airport in the future.”

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2 and Jet2holidays, said: “We are giving local holidaymakers unrivalled choice and flexibility from Leeds Bradford Airport in Winter 20/21, thanks to this fantastic Winter Sun programme.”

“With more seats to Turkey on the back of extra demand, as well as award-winning flights and holidays to hotspots such as the Canary Islands, Spain, Majorca, Cyprus and Turkey, this programme will give holidaymakers more reason than ever to escape the long British winter. With more announcements coming soon, we are very excited about what’s in store for local holidaymakers in Winter 20/21.”
