JOHN Grogan MP visited The Swan in Addingham to support the local pub, and the Long Live the Local campaign.

The campaign celebrates the vital role local pubs play in the community, culture and economy whilst highlighting the pressure they are under from a range of taxes including beer duty, business rates and VAT.

Amy Keegan and Jonathan Sayers are the publicans at the Swan and they discussed with John the history of the pub, and also explained why a community village pub is essential to the local area. A unique factor about the Swan is a snug room known as the ‘no politics room’, to get away from chats about politics.

Mr Grogan also visited The Commercial Hotel in Keighley which has recently become a Craft Union pub, one part of the Managed Operations arm of Ei Group.
