RAWDON in Bloom volunteers continued their work to keep the area looking lovely by planting bulbs at the weekend.

Spokesman Phil Gomersall said: “Bulb planting went underway on Green Lane with a dedicated team from Rawdon in Bloom this weekend despite the World Cup Rugby being televised at the same time.

“The weather was also kind to us giving us a dry break for planting.

“Can’t wait to see another corner of Rawdon brightened up in spring.

“Still another 9,000 daffodils to plant next weekend at both ends of Layton Lane, Rawdon.

“If you would like to help brighten up our village and improve the environment just come and join us at 10am next Saturday morning, preferably with a spade.”

In September Rawdon in bloom was awarded a silver gilt at the Yorkshire in Bloom competition, improving on last years silver.
