LIVERSEDGE manager Jonathan Rimmington has admitted that tonight’s West Riding County Cup First Round tie at Campion has not come at the ideal time, given that his side are pushing for promotion.

He said that it would at least give a chance for those who have been away or injured to get some game time, and perhaps even push for a first team place.

Sedge currently sit third in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division with 22 points, and games in hand on the teams above them.

Rimmington feels that this weekend’s league game at Eccleshill United is the priority, but speaking about the Campion clash, he said: “We won’t be playing our full team tonight, so we’ll have some lads in who haven’t been playing, away with work, or injured.

“A game like this just gives us a chance to have a look at everyone and get those who’ve been away up to speed.

“If we hadn’t been up at the top, we’d have had a go (at the competition) but sometimes you’ve got other priorities. We still want to win, but it’s not the be all and end all tonight.”

Opponents Campion are also flying high in the league this season, sitting second in the NCEL Division One.

Rimmington has been impressed from afar, saying: “Campion have some decent players in their side and they're very experienced throughout their squad."
