A MEMORIAL plaque which had hung in Guiseley Library has found a new home in the town’s theatre.

The plaque is dedicated to the boys of Yeadon and Guiseley Secondary School who gave their lives in the First World War. The secondary went on to become Aireborough Grammar School, which closed in 1991.

Guiseley and Rawdon councillor Graham Latty said: “It was hanging previously in Guiseley Library but was rescued by Mrs Elsie Turner of Guiseley British Legion when the library closed .

“Elsie discussed with me where it should go and we decided to ask Guiseley Theatre to find a prominent space which they kindly did and the plaque will hang on the wall in the foyer to the theatre.

“Now generations of theatregoers and users will see this plaque on entering the building and their names will be remembered anew.”

The plaque will be dedicated and unveiled at 12 noon on November 11.
