ILKLEY Amateur Operatic Society’s talented youth section is busy working toward their next production, the stage version of the hit album and film of The Who’s Tommy.

The show, packed full of great music, the most well known song being Pinball Wizard, tells the story of Tommy a young boy who witnesses his father murder his mother’s lover which sends him into a catatonic state. The only thing he will respond to are the lights and sounds of the pinball machine. He becomes a walking miracle, and when he eventually regains his senses he becomes an international superstar.

“This is a great show, and we’re so lucky to be one of only a couple of groups in the country performing it this year, the 50th anniversary of the album,” said show director, Mark Allan. “If you’re a fan of musical theatre it’s perfect for you. If you like live rock music, or are a fan of The Who you’ll also have a great night out. As usual we have a group of talented professional musicians. For this show, an eight piece rock band”.

The show runs at the King’s Hall, Ilkley from October 30 to November 1 at 7.15pm with a 5.30pm performance on November 2nd. Book tickets by telephone 07763 816611 or online www.ilkleyoperatic.co.uk
