AN OLDER people’s charity is seeking volunteers.

OPAL (Older People’s Action in the Locality) assists older residents across the LS16 postcode area which includes Bramhope.

The charity helps people who are 60 and over live more active and socially engaged lives and promotes health and wellbeing through friendship and activities.

It would like to hear from anyone who could:

*Assist on trips either by escorting someone or helping them in a wheelchair

*Help at its Friday lunch club and café

*Drive people to and from activities, and talk to people at its coffee afternoons

*Visit an older person who is housebound on a weekly or fortnightly basis.

To find out more contact Sally-Anne Notley on (0113) 2619103, e-mail sally-anne@opal-project.org.uk .

Many of OPAL’s members live alone and are aged 75 or over.

Founded in 2002 as part of the Leeds Neighbourhood Network schemes, the charity’s services include a visiting/befriending scheme, exercise classes and support for carers.
