TRAINEE teachers from Sweden are visiting Leeds Trinity University as part of a partnership which has been running for 25 years.

Leeds Trinity welcomed the 62nd cohort of students from Umea University last week. Since 1994, the Horsforth-based institution has welcomed more than 1,000 trainee primary, secondary and sixth form teachers from Umea to take part in a two-week course.

The partnership was set up by Simon Green, Educational Consultant at Challenging Ideas, who previously worked at at Leeds Trinity, and who visited Umea University in 1994.

Simon said: “I’m enormously proud of the link that we established between Leeds Trinity University and Umea University, and am enormously thankful to everyone involved over the last 25 years – the host families, colleagues in support services, teaching staff and Leeds Trinity students who have welcomed and integrated with the Swedish students.”
