THE FIRST electric car charging point in Leeds North West has been installed - in Otley.
The charging station was fitted at the Licks car park, on Cattle Market Street/North Parade, last week.
MP Alex Sobel (Lab Leeds North West), who campaigned for the move, has already made use of the new facility.
He said: “I am delighted we have finally achieved the installation of a public charging point in Leeds North West.
“I have been campaigning for this in Parliament since I was elected and have raised the lack of charging infrastructure in the House no fewer than four times. I have also consistently raised this with the local transport authorities.
“We will only move to sustainable transport when we have the infrastructure in place to support it. The fact that this is being placed in Otley, where the air quality problems are well known, is a good sign for the future.”
