RESIDENTS of Cross Roads and Lees hope to snag the world record for knitting bunting.
Members of Lees Cum Cross Roads Village Association have to knit five-miles worth of bunting in order to officially become record holders.
Association spokesman Bev Underwood said the 35,000 flags would eventually stretch 15 times around Redcar Tarn on Black Hill in Keighley.
She said: “We have a Facebook site @CrossrRoadsBunting for knitting patterns, and people can contact Angela Armstrong and we will post out patterns.
“We would love people to knit or donate wool or knitting needles. We have till May to achieve this challenge. Anyone wanting knitting collecting, we can arrange that too.”
Bev that said that once the bunting had been judged, the flags would be made into blankets for charity.
She added: “If you can’t knit then contact us, we can help, or maybe friends, family, aunts, uncles or grans could help.”.

There are drop-off points in Cross Roads where patterns can also be picked up, at Material Worth, Lees Primary School, St James’s Church, the Methodist Church, and the pet store on Mill Hey in Haworth.
