WITNESSES are being sought to an accident in which a Cross Roads man died.

A lorry driven by Ken Sugden, 63, crashed after he suffered a suspected heart attack at the wheel.

He was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

His JODA Freight lorry collided with street furniture during the incident at the Five Lane Ends roundabout, Idle, shortly after 2pm on Monday, September 9.

The West Yorkshire Police Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Support Unit would like to hear from anyone who saw the Volvo HGV travelling along Highfield Road towards Five Lane Ends roundabout at about 2.13pm that day, or witnessed the collision itself.

Call 101, or use the contact options on the West Yorkshire Police website, quoting log 945 of September 9.

Last week tribute was paid to Mr Sugden by his wife, Brenda, who said he was caring and hugely popular and loved being in a wagon. Mr Sugden, who formerly lived at Haworth, was just a fortnight away from his 64th birthday.
