A WHARFEDALE MP has been making his feelings about the prolonged suspension of Parliament very clear.
A five week suspension, or ‘prorogation’, of Parliament began this week in a move that has been condemned by many MPs - worried at its length and timing before the Brexit deadline - as undemocratic.
Many made their objections clear in the House of Commons on Monday, September 9 - including MP Alex Sobel (Lab, Leeds North West).
Mr Sobel, who also held a second protest against the prorogation in Leeds last weekend where he joined speakers from many different parties, said: “I am working with anyone and everyone to defend our democratic institutions and to stop a disastrous no-deal Brexit.
“The Prime Minister is not negotiating a deal, he is gaming Parliament and ultimately the British public in order to boost his own career.
“He will not be affected by no deal. My constituents and local businesses will.”
