A CRICKET clubhouse has been extensively damaged in a blaze.

The fire broke out early this morning at the Olicanian Cricket Club, in Denton Road, Ilkley.

Firefighters from Keighley, Otley, Rawdon and Shipley were called out to the incident, at about 3am.

"When we arrived the wooden building was well alight," said Keighley Fire Station watch commander, Michael Rhodes.

"One hundred per cent of the structure was involved in the fire.

"We managed to save some equipment, but the building was severely damaged."

The fire crews used five large water jets and two hose reels to tackle the blaze.

They spent several hours at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
