A BREAKDOWN of the costs for a scheme to improve a busy Wharfedale crossroads have been revealed.
Leeds City Council is proposing to change the layout of the Dyneley Arms junction, between Bramhope and Otley, for an estimated £2.5 million.
The work would involve widening part of the junction to create a waiting area for right-turning traffic that has travelled uphill - ie south, away from Pool-in-Wharfedale - on the A658 Pool Bank New Road.
The city council has begun a consultation on the proposals which have come under fire for being both too expensive and too limited.
Councillor Barry Anderson (Con, Adel & Wharfedale) has now been given a breakdown of the project’s costs by a council officer.
He has been told that they will consist of: £470.000 for design development; £250,000 to cover land purchase, use and restoration; and £1.25 million for the main scheme itself, including temporary traffic management, materials and construction.
There would also be a £250,000 cost for a new traffic signal system at the junction while some £480,000 would be provided for ‘contingencies’.
