IT was a hat-trick for David Henderson last week when he won the doubles in the Ben Rhydding Croquet Club internal competitions for the third year running.
Partnered by club captain Penny Clark, he lifted the Cynthia Barraclough trophy after beating Janet Matthews-Lane and Mrs Clark’s husband, Ken, by five hoops to four in the final.
Henderson, from Ilkley, and Mrs Clark from Askwith, were also victorious last year, while he took the title in 2017 with former club chairman Andie Harper.
“ I am pleased and somewhat amazed to have won the doubles again,” he said.
In the singles competition it was first time lucky for new member Alan Ebbutt, who recently joined BRCC from Bishop Monkton. In a nip and tuck final he beat coach Richard Butler 7 - 6 at the thirteenth Golden Hoop to win the Richard Lorimer shield.
