A SWING jive band are looking forward to making their debut performance in Ilkley next month.

The 309s are promising an evening of high quality rock and roll when they play at Ilkley Playhouse on Saturday, September 7. The show starts at 7.30pm and the five piece are advising audience members to ‘put on their dancing shoes’ for a night to remember.

The 309s play a mixture of their own, retro sounding songs along with a number of classic hits from the 1940s and 1950s.

The band have twin lead vocals backed by a ‘rock solid rhythm section and soaring lead fiddle and steel guitar’.

The Playhouse is making sure there is a mixture of seating and dance floor space to suit all-comers.

The venue’s website listing says: “Fronted by two top singers and a wild fiddle player, the band put a smile on everybody’s face with toe tapping rocking and rolling rhythms. Think Hank Williams, Bob Wills and early Johnny Cash joining forces to make a classic 20th Century sound that is the roots of rock and roll. “
