LOCAL charity Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust (YDMT) will be inspiring people to support the planting of new trees this week, as they bring a special Book Fair Tree to Ilkley Book Fair.

The charity is inviting people to visit their stand at Ilkley Book Fair on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 July where they can make a donation, add a leaf to the Book Fair Tree and help support the creation of new native woodlands in the area.

It will also be selling its new book ‘Discover your Woods - Trees in the Dales’ which was released earlier this year and explores woodlands in the Dales and the people who help create them.

Money raised at the Book Fair will support the charity’s Together for Trees campaign which aims to plant 100,000 native broadleaf trees over the next two years, creating beautiful woodlands for everyone.

YDMT’s Lindsay Wallace said: “Now couldn’t be a more important time to plant trees – as climate advisers say Britain needs to plant almost three billion new trees to end its contribution to global warming. We’re looking forward to spreading the word at Ilkley Book Fair and raising money to plant more broadleaf trees in Yorkshire.”

Ilkley Book Fair will be at The King’s Hall & Winter Gardens in Ilkley on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 July.

The YDMT stand will be open from noon - 4pm on Friday and 11am until 3pm on Saturday.
