A PUBLIC consultation will begin this month over planned changes to the Dyneley Arms crossroads.

Leeds City Council is proposing to make a number of modifications to improve traffic flow at the junction.

The proposals would include widening the eastern corner of the junction - the left filter lane for traffic heading uphill towards the crossroads, from Pool-in-Wharfedale, on the A658 Pool Bank New Road.

It would also involve:

*Minor realignment of the A658 at the junction's 'north arm'

*The introduction of new traffic signals technology

*Advanced stop lines for cycle users.

A stone wall field boundary would also have to be temporarily removed during the work, and would be reinstated afterwards.

The council says the scheme should help to 'mitigate existing congestion issues, reduce the delay for traffic travelling through the junction and help prevent continued forecast traffic growth, causing further congestion issues'.

A consultation on the plans will begin on July 15 and run until September 9. Details about how to give feedback will be included in leaflets and posters that are to be distributed soon in Pool, Bramhope, Otley and Adel.
