PEACE protesters will gather at RAF Menwith Hill next month to stage the annual Independence from America Day event.
The demonstration will be held outside the main gate of the base, which acts as an intelligence gathering hub for the US’s National Security Agency, on Thursday, July 4.
A member of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament’s (CND) International Advisory Group, Jenny Clegg - a former senior lecturer in International Politics and East Asian Affairs who is involved in CND’s current Global Dangers Tour - will be among the speakers.
Other speakers at the protest, which runs from 4pm to 7.30pm, will include Celia McKeon from Re-thinking Security and Robin Brookes: a War Tax Resister and member of the Executive Committee of Conscience, the Peace Tax Campaign.
There will also be live music from Reason Breeds Monsters and the East Lancs Clarion Choir, vegetarian and vegan food and Fair Trade drinks.
The event has been organised by the Menwith Hill Accountability Campaign and Yorkshire CND.
