OVER two evenings last week Benton Park School in Rawdon celebrated their annual student award ceremonies.

The events are aimed at recognising and celebrating the fantastic achievements of the students across the academic year.

The awards are always very hotly contested each year and choosing just a small number of students is very difficult.

Awards ranged from subject specific prizes, through to Bronze, Silver and Gold winners for academic excellence, academic progress and engagement in learning, which is where students have unwaveringly displayed a positive and strong attitude to their learning.

The awards are not just about academic progress, as they also recognised those students who go above and beyond each and every day.

New this year were awards relating to Benton Park’s five key values; Endeavour, Resilience, Inspiration, Collaboration and Compassion. The presentation of these awards in particular led to some emotional and heartfelt speeches.

Parents, grandparents and other family members, along with staff were entertained with music provided by some very talented students.

Guests enjoyed canapés and a drinks reception followed by the opportunity to hear glowing speeches made by staff about the prize winners.

Benton Park head teacher Delia Martin closed the evening by thanking parents, students and staff, emphasising the really important part a successful relationship between home and school plays in ensuring students achieve their full potential.

A school spokesperson said: “The awards are a real highlight of the school calendar and a truly lovely evening celebrating just some of the many achievements of the students at Benton Park.”

A total of 125 students received awards.
