FORTY residents attended the Climate Action Ilkley ‘getting stuck in’ event on Tuesday chaired by Steve Peel, and formed new working groups. The mobility and transport group will be led by Anna Davidson and will focus on actions to reduce the need for private car use, improving public transport, sharing cars/electric car club, making cycling and walking safer and more attractive. The energy group will be led by Keith Pitcher and will focus on reducing electricity and gas use and replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy. A third group, led by Mike Daw, will focus on engagement with businesses, schools, churches and other organisations. A key message was people need clear information on best practice - what they can and should do.There will be a similar meeting on Monday, July 8, Clarke Foley Centre, at 7.15pm. There will be opportunity to join the working groups. To find out more, and join, visit climateactionilkley.org
