A STREAM of people toured more than 60 interest group tables at the Clarke Foley Centre at the annual Ilkley & District U3A Meet the Leaders event on Saturday..
Existing members renewed their involvement in groups and new members signed up.
A volunteer-led organisation for people past the years of full-time employment or in their third age, the U3A provides a wide range of life-enhancing activities that focus on enjoyment, not qualifications, encouraging social interaction. “It was good to see so many members re-joining and so many new members too,” said Groups Co-ordinator Mary Podesta. “There was a great buzz about the place and although some groups were not represented, I was able to act as a point of contact for anyone wanting more information.
“These events always present a challenge to the organisers and we are grateful to our trustees and volunteers who give their time so generously.”
