SUMMER planting has been taking place in Yeadon.
Aireborough Civic Society (ACS) volunteers carried out the work last week when 700 plants, from Leeds Parks department, were planted around the town centre.
Clive Woods from ACS said: “We had postponed our planting for the first time ever because the forecast for last Tuesday and Wednesday was for rain all day, with a, cold northerly wind.
“Thursday was supposed to be fine with some showers but in the morning it was raining and we expected to get a soaking. However by 11.30am it had stopped and we were able to plant Yeadon High Street, Town Hall and Square, plus Harper Lane Bus Island.
“Thanks to Rose, Anne, Judy, Sue, Janet, Leslie, Dennis, Peter, David, Elliott and anyone I have missed for helping with the preparation and the planting, in not very appealing conditions.
“We look forward to a fine display this summer.”
