AN OTLEY school will receive a ‘wildlife makeover’ this week.

Wildlife Friendly Otley will be teaming up with pupils at Ashfield Primary School on Thursday, June 13 for the venture.

Students from Prince Henry’s Grammar School will also be lending a hand as part of their annual Timanyane Day, when they go out into the community to support local groups.

Under the guidance of wildlife expert Neil Griffin, from Wildlife Friendly Otley, the children - aged from six to 15 - will be creating new habitats for wildlife while having a lot of nature-related fun.

Wildlife Friendly Otley was officially launched in January this year.

Working closely with all of the town’s other wildlife-related groups, it is dedicated to finding innovative ways of protecting and celebrating the local area’s fauna.

The group is also working to increase community involvement and has a number of initiatives planned, including running a wildlife survey, as it bids to had Otley officially recognised as a Wildlife Friendly town.
