CHILDREN at an Otley primary school have been enjoying two new ‘mud kitchens’.
The fun outdoor facilities were created for Ashfield Primary by Holbeck-based social enterprise Leeds Wood Recycling. Reception Class teacher Michael Ross got in touch with the organisation after it posted a message asking for ideas for its woodworking students.
Mr Ross suggested designing a new mud kitchen for Ashfield’s Early Years unit - and ended up with two.
He said: “Two amazingly diverse kitchens were built - with features such as a crawl tunnel, blackboards and cupboards for utensils.
“Unable to decide on which one to have, the school decided it was too good an opportunity to miss and bought both. An instant hit, the kitchens are now played with on a daily basis by over 50 children..”
