THE campaign to help all businesses in Burley to be welcoming and accessible to people living with dementia, took a big step forward last week. All the staff team at The Coffee Station on Main Street attended a Dementia Friends Information Session led by local Dementia Champion, Val McKenzie.
Proprietor Angela Beaumont said: "It was a really interesting session. I have a family member with dementia and I’m really keen to do all I can to support people living with this disease.
Val praised the enthusiastic team saying: "The Coffee Station is already providing a positive experience for some of their regular customers who have memory problems. I'm looking forward to working with them on their Action Plan to become a Dementia Friendly Retailer. The team is full of good ideas about how they need only make some small changes to their work environment. Yet this will have a huge impact for their customers."
The Coffee Station is thinking about organising a special event to support the local Burley Dementia Action Group.
