AN OTLEY club has celebrated its 29th Charter Dinner.
The Inner Wheel Club of Otley Chevin held the event at the Chevin Country Park Hotel on Tuesday, May 21. President Jennifer Angus welcomed the District Chairman Suzanne Brindley, Rotary Club of Otley Chevin President George Duncan and members from nine other clubs.
The guest speaker, Veronica Bird OBE, gave a talk about her life as a prison officer and governor in prisons across the country, and her visit to a prison in Russia.
Two celebration cakes had been specially iced for the occasion by Otley Chevin member Margaret Liptrot. One was decorated with the Inner Wheel badge and the other with images of some of the items the club collects to send to overseas charities - including knitted goods, educational equipment and toys.
