THE Rotary Club of Ilkley was delighted to receive well over 300 entries for their annual handwriting competition.
Open to Year 4 students across all schools in the area, with a prize and certificate for the winning entry from each school and a certificate and cup for the school with the overall winner, all eleven primary schools in the area took up the challenge.
Each entry was asked to copy out the two selected poems for judging and the standard was high.
The prize for the overall winner was awarded to Amelie Haslam from Ben Rhydding Primary School and Rotary Club of Ilkley President David Shaw and Youth Committee Chairman Chris Pacsoo were delighted to be invited to attend the school’s Friday morning assembly to present Amelie with her personal prize and certificate as she and Headteacher Mr Glen Hartford accepted the winner’s cup and certificate on behalf of the school.
