SCOUTS from across Wharfedale have enjoyed this year’s Torch Race.
The annual event, which involves a relay run from Otley town centre to the top of the Chevin, took place on Friday, May 10.
Scouts from Ilkley, Burley-in-Wharfedale, Menston and Otley took part with 1st Ben Rhydding Scouts, who fielded two mixed teams, emerging triumphant. They will now get to keep the coveted torch trophy for one year.
Burley Explorers, meanwhile, won the Explorers class of the competition. All Sections were also inspected on the day with Otley Methodists and 1st Ben Rhydding Scout Troops, and Ilkley Explorers, being declared the smartest. The District Commissioner for Wharfedale District Dominic Dodson said it was wonderful to see so many teams competing and praised the dedication of the leaders.
