HUNDREDS of visitors enjoyed Easter Monday refreshments at a Washburn Valley chapel.

Norwood Methodist Church and Retreat Centre hosted its first ‘Bank Holiday teas’ event of the year - run by Bramhope Methodist Church - on Monday, April 22. More than 250 people dropped in to enjoy hot drinks, cakes, scones and more - raising £950 in the process.

The money will go towards the Bramhope church’s funds with a donation also being made to Norwood, which recently underwent a major refurbishment, for the use of its premises.

Norwood chapel is hoping to be used as a refreshments base again on the Spring Bank Holiday Monday, May 27 and then the August 26 Bank Holiday Monday. If any churches or groups would like to book those dates to provide the service they should send an e-mail to norwoodretreatcentre@gmail.com or call 07946 423309.

Refreshments will also be served at Norwood during the UCI World Championships on Saturday, September 28 when the Women’s Elite Road Race makes the 155 metre ascent up Norwood Edge., past the church. Toilet facilities and secure bike storage will also be available.
