GUISELEY AFC chairman Gary Douglas has presented cheques to local charities. The first cheques, for £666.66 each, wentto three charities who benefitted from the FA Community Shield money which the FA gave to Guiseley AFC.

The money from the FA Charity Shield is shared out to charitable organisations chosen by clubs from the lower levels who do well in the FA Cup.

Guiseley, through their Community Foundation, donated the money to AVSED, Memory Lane Dementia Centre in Yeadon and Aireborough Action for Children.

These three charities, along with Guiseley Academy, also received cheques for £1,200 each from the Guiseley Community Foundation being the proceeds from the recent beer festival that the Foundation ran at Coopers Bar in Guiseley.

Guiseley Community Foundation Chairman Phil Rogerson said: “We are very pleased to have been able to donate such good amounts to these local charities. We continually strive to raise funds to help local charities who we work with through our Community Foundation. Our next event is a music festival in conjunction with Guiseley Cricket Club to be held on May 26th.”
