OTLEY’S swimming pool has been closed due to ‘mechanical problems’.

A decision was made to temporarily shut Chippindale Pool, at Prince Henry’s Grammar School, on Saturday, April 13.

The pool has remained closed since, while Active Leeds and Leeds City Council work to resolve what they have described as ‘ventilation issues’.

Posts on the pool’s Facebook page have apologised for the closure and confirmed that any lessons missed will be credited. An update on Tuesday, April 15 announced that the lunchtime swims had been cancelled and confirmed that an engineer was on site.

A message on the Active Leeds website, meanwhile, says: “Thank you for your patience whilst we get the issues resolved.”

In an update to local councillors Active Leeds has stressed that it is working to get the pool reopened as quickly as possible.

It goes on to warn, however, that ‘a worst case scenario will be the pool will remain closed until Friday of this week’. It adds: “In a bid to minimise disruption as much as possible, the team are working hard to relocate users to Holt Park Active.”
