A DELEGATION of hospital workers from Romania has been on a four-day fact-finding visit to the district.
The team, from Satu Mare Hospital, learned more about the services provided by Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust.
During its trip, the six-strong contingent – comprising a director of nursing, two psychiatrists and three mental health nurses – visited the Airedale Centre for Mental Health at Steeton.
The itinerary also included Waddiloves Health Centre and Lynfield Mount Hospital at Bradford, and the visitors participated in a seminar.
Delegation member, Dr Cisma Catalin, said: "We found the visit extremely positive and gained a lot from the experience, as it’s a very different system to Romania.
"It has been a great opportunity to learn from our counterparts at the care trust, and to find out more about the great work they do to enhance patient care.
"We will take back the learnings to Romania to benefit patients under our care."
The visit was the latest in a series of 'exchanges' between care staff in the two countries.
Isla Skinner, the care trust's patient experience lead, said: "We are so pleased to be able to continue this international relationship, which my predecessor Tracey Corner established.
"It’s a great opportunity for our Romanian colleagues, but also for us.
"Together we can share and reflect on our learning and experiences.
"We were delighted to welcome the delegates and develop our mutual commitment to improve the quality of care."
Sharing of good practice has included the complaints process, guidelines on medicines management and visiting wards and services.
