VOLUNTEERS from Wharfedale and Aireborough are being sought to take part in a study about IBS.
Research teams at Leeds Teaching Hospitals and the University of Leeds hope the exercise will unveil new details that will help the development of new therapies for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
They need both IBS sufferers and non-sufferers to get involved and say the study will provide a unique opportunity to find out more about gut bacteria (microbiota).
Research has shown that our gut bacteria is important for health and may also be a factor in IBS.
The Leeds research teams say that establishing that fact may lead to more appropriate treatments or management strategies being developed to relieve symptoms in the future.
Anyone interested in taking part in the research should contact Professor Alex Ford and the research team by calling 07706 000248 or sending an e-mail to emma.barron3@nhs.net .
